How do I qualify for home health?

You must be home-bound with a need for skilled services. These include Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and/or Speech Therapy.

What type of insurance is accepted?

We accept Medicare(Part A and B), select Medicaid HMOs, VA pay, and some private insurances.

What are the next steps once I qualify?

Smart Health Care must receive a verbal or written order from your physician for home health care. Once that order has been received, a Registered Nurse will come out to evaluate your needs.

Will I be responsible for out-of-pocket expenses?

We bill the insurance company for all services rendered. You will not receive a bill from our company for services.

How do I go about getting a wheelchair or other medical equipment for myself or for my loved one?

Your physician must see a need for the equipment requested. If a need is identified, the physician will send a referral directly to a DME supplier or to us, and we will forward the information to the appropriate providers.

What is the scope of the Home Health Aide services?

Our home health aides are restricted to limited environmental care related to patient care only. They may perform light housekeeping in the patient’s area and prepare light meals if necessary.

Do you supply incontinent supplies? If so, how much do they cost?

Yes, we supply incontinent supplies, but there are restrictions on the amount and frequency. The supplies are at no cost to you.

Does Medicaid cover all qualified services?

Nurse/Aid Care, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy are covered by Medicaid only when confirmed by prior authorization.
